We've been growing our hi-fi department with a view to providing the most quality turntables at the best price point. Whether you're just starting out with your collection and looking at an entry level player, or you're an old hand wanting an upgrade, here are our recommendations to get the most bang for your buck.
Pro-Ject Elemental $399 (Club price approx. $359):
This turntable is about as bare-bones as it gets, with minimal compromise on sound. It comes with tracking weight and anti skating already set so it really is plug-and-play. It plugs straight in to any amp with a phono input and would make a great turntable either for somebody who's just getting in to vinyl or as a gift. The only qualm is that there is no dust cover.
Pro-Ject Essential 2 Phono/USB $629 (Club price approx. $570):
This is a fantastic entry-level turntable which can plug in to just about anything your phone or laptop can. Want to play records through a UE Boom? No problem. It requires a bit more setting up than the elemental, but with a built-in USB phono stage it's extremely versatile. Don't need the phono stage? The non Phono/USB version is just $500.
Pro-Ject Debut Carbon with Ortofon 2M Red Cartridge $729 (Club price approx. $670):
Overall, we think this is the best value turntable money can buy. It has a solid build, beautiful finish, and the sound quality is outstanding for the price. The 2M Red cartridge that comes with it is very good on its own, but if you're looking for an upgrade either now or further down the track, it's as simple as replacing the stylus with the 2M Blue. The Project Debut Carbon will plug in to any amplifier with a phono stage, and it also comes in a wide range of colours.
Rega RP3 with Elys 2 Cartridge $1749 (Club price approx. $1589):
