Collection: Essential International Albums

International or World Music is a genre that was initially used to describe all music outside of the dominant US and UK recording industries, both traditional music and hybrids with western pop, rock, funk, or jazz. The umbrella term most notably includes sounds from Nigeria, Cuba, France, Brazil, Ethiopia, India, Mali, Indonesia, Cambodia, Mexico, and the Middle East. Often Reggae, Ska, and Dub are not included under the umbrella term because the Jamaican music industry was so large and so integrated with the US and the UK.
